George

Thank you for visiting our website dedicated to our beautiful son George, who was sadly born sleeping on 1 December 2010.

Why we've created this site:

  • To help keep George's memory alive.
  • To help other parents who have shared or are going through similar experiences.
  • It also helps us when we can do things for George.

We would especially like to thank all our family & friends for their support over the last few months and for their amazing generosity in raising money for Sands.

Things we & our families have done so far:

  • We put together a memory box which contains a small lock of his hair, his hand & footprints, hospital bracelet, all the cards & letters we received from family & friends, plus ribbons & cards from the funeral flowers.
  • We made a photo album including all George's scan pictures & photos taken at the hospital.
  • We arranged George's funeral ourselves and buried him at a cemetery of our choosing (the hospital will arrange a funeral unless you have a preference otherwise).
  • We designed and ordered a granite bedstone for George's grave, and while we were waiting for the stone to be shipped to the UK and engraved, we bought a temporary grave marker.
  • We designed & printed our own laminated memorial cards for the funeral so that everyone who attended had something to keep.
  • In his coffin, we placed a few small soft toys that we bought for his first Christmas, plus photos of us & and his close family.
  • One of our relatives registered a star for George.
  • Another relative wrote a poem for him.
  • We asked friends & family to donate money to Sands instead of sending flowers to the funeral, and we have raised over £3000 to date.
  • George's mummy did some paintings & drawings of him, some of which you can see on the pictures page.
  • We have planted a little garden on George's grave. We and George's grandparents try to visit him at least once a week.
  • ... and of course this website. This is the second version of the site, the first version made to coincide with his funeral can be found here.
